WIP: New Face / Yeni Yüz

Work in progress: Today's work, unpainted, only partially cured. That's my 3rd realistic face trial :)

Geçen seferki fiyaskodan sonra ellerim kil görünce geri geri gidiyordu ama hep bana destek olan en bi' mükemmel sevgilimin verdiği moral ve gazla bu hanımkızımızın yüzünü bitirebildim! Çok mutluyum :)

Yüz çalışırken sevgili Galip Tekin'e içimden sürekli teşekkür ediyorum anatomi konusunda hassasiyeti ve beni sürekli masaya geri gönderip çalışmaya sevkettiği için. İyi ki almışım dersini, sayesinde çok daha hızlı gelişme gösteriyorum :) Tabii yalnızca o değil, diğer resim ve heykel hocalarıma da teşekkür etmeliyim sanırım, bir şey öğrenmedim sanıyordum ama hakikaten çok faydasını görüyorum derslerin ^.^

A cute Christmas Elf I started for my art doll group's ornament swap

While I continue, something started to bother me and I wanted to fix some details

Devam ettikçe bir şeyler rahatsız etmeye başladı ve bazı detayları düzeltmek istedim

I wanted to make her beautiful, started trying to make lips thinner and went on with the eyes and such...

Birazcık düzelteyim dedim, önce dudakları incelttim, sonra gözler filan derken...

And somewhere, something went very very wrong...

Ve bir yerlerde bir şeyler, fena halde ters gitti...

My 3 -4 days of work is now in garbage. See you later when I recover from my depression :P

3 - 4 günlük emeğim şu anda çöpte. Depresyondan çıkınca görüşürüz :P

A Tiny Puppet and A Short Animation

This is my puppet. Well, since she's a posable doll, she deserves her post here! I made her for a small animation I made for my copywriting class project. Our assigment was to prepare a personal ad. I combined myself and what I do, and here it is ^^

Ok, back to school! I'll start making an ornament for a swap soon. Then finally, my first full ooak doll. More pictures and stuff will come ;)

I've finally ordered many stuff along with genesis paints, can't wait! :)

Sonbahar Perisi - Autumn Fairy: My First Try!

Let me introduce you the autumn fairy I made for a charity/exhibition/competition! (Yeah, it's all three :) Theme of the competition was autumn and all of the exhibition's income will be donated for kids who need protection. So I've adjusted my wish to "make a nice, realistic looking fairy" according to the event and here she is: The Protector Fairy of The Autumn :)

 10marifet ve Hobiniyarat'ın ortaklaşa düzenledikleri sonbahar yarışması için hazırladığım sonbahar perisini takdim edeyim sizlere! Kendisi yarışmaya gönderilen her tasarım gibi bu pazar BÜMED'de gerçekleşecek ve tüm geliri Türkiye Korunmaya Muhtaç Çocuklar Vakfı'na bağışlanacak olan 10marifet Sergisi'nde olacak. Yarışmanın teması sonbahar, eserlerin satışından elde edilen gelir de Koruncuk Vakfı'na bağışlanacak olunca uzun zamandır yapmak istediğim "gerçekçi peri"yi konsepte uyarladım ve işte karşınızda "Sonbaharın Koruyucu Perisi" :)

She is my first realistic looking fairy try. I made her out of Cernit clay (flesh) and placed in a nice floral frame with other details. My favorite thing about her is that I have actually hand-dyed the silk of her dress with coffee :P

Kendisi ilk gerçekçi hanımkız figürü denemem, tamamen polimer kilden (Cernit) elde yapıldı ve çok hoş floral bir çerçeveye güzel bir kompozisyonla yerleştirildi. Sanırım kendisiyle ilgili en sevdiğim detay kıyafetinde kullandığım ipek kumaşı kahveyle renklendirmiş olmam :P

Her wings are real dried leaves that are varnished and decorated. Her dress is made of silk and ribbons, her tiara is made out of a filigree jewellery thingy. Her hair is auburn red tibetan lamb fur and there's light pink, tear-drop shaped swarovski crystal on her wand.

Kanatlarını gerçek kurumuş yapraklardan, kıyafetini ipek kumaş ve tuhafiyeden aldığım şeritten, tacını takı aparatından, saçlarını da kestane rengi tibet koyunu kürkünden yaptım. Sihirli değneğinin ucunda da damla kesim uçuk pembe bir swarovski kristali var. 

I completed her in about a week, but I really love the way she turned out! I hope people likes her too, and so she will help protecting the kids :)

Yapımı yaklaşık bir hafta aldı, bayağı emek harcadım ama içime çok sindi. Umarım beğenilir ve sergide Koruncuklar için güzel bir gelir elde edilir :)

Hi there! I wanted to write my first post as a mere introduction :)

I'm Nihan Sönmez, a Turkish college student who lives in Istanbul. I'm a crafter and a beginner art doll sculptor who is trying to improve herself. I have past experience with drawing, painting and sculpting but I am new to the whole art doll concept. I have been making jewellery, accessories and small figurines from polymer clay for a while as Kilpi. After recently finishing my first fairy, I figured I need a special place just for my art doll process. So, here it is!

I am also keeping it as a journal for now, to keep a record of my progress. So it is possible that you will see lots of WIP's and such for the beginning.
